TWO NORTHERN Cape men, Sebastian Tebogo Lanks, 20, and Ketshapane Olyn, 22, were sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment each for the brutal murder of a 25-year-old man.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said on Monday that during the trial, the investigation team presented “meticulous evidence” of the brutal killing, where one of the accused had held the deceased down while the other stabbed him to death with a knife on September 30, 2022.

“The accused were convicted on November 27 in the Postmasburg Regional Court,” said Sam.

The ZF Mgcawu district commissioner, Major-General Thabo Mphuthi, applauded the investigating officers – Detective Sergeant Duncan Gwai, Detective Sergeant Christopher Kgomonyane and Detective Sergeant Tefo Makhetha – and reiterated the SAPS’s commitment to policing contact crimes during the festive season and beyond.
