THE HAWKS’ Priority Crime Specialised Investigation team, together with the Asset forfeiture Unit (AFU), secured a preservation order against Galeshewe resident Andrew Longwane, 52, to the value of R21,400.

The preservation order was granted by the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on August 31 following Longwane’s arrest during a raid conducted by provincial detectives at Thethele Street in Galeshewe.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Warrant Officer Nomthandazo Mnisi said the police conducted a search-and-seizure operation at the accused’s residence after information was received alleging that he was part of a gang that stole money during an armed robbery at the “Bangladesh tuck shop”.

She added that R21,400 was recovered during the raid.

“The matter was then referred to Priority Crime Specialised Investigation and the AFU for further investigation,” Mnisi said.
