Kimberley SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane, said the SAPS, in conjunction with the Northern Cape Liquor board, traffic department, community in blue patrollers and Greenpoint Neighborhood watch, known as Bittersoet, conducted vehicle check points in Quinn Street in Kimberley on April 1.
“Traffic fines to the value of R19,750 were issued, 171 vehicles were stopped and 378 persons were searched.”
She added that a number of liquor outlets were visited in Roodepan, Galeshewe, Kagisho and Kimberley where compliance inspections were conducted and some establishments were shut down.
The Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, applauded the members for their dedication in eradicating crime and encouraged them to always be vigilant and to keep safe.
