THE SOUTH African Police Service’s Operation Vala Umgodi team, in collaboration with the South African National Defence Force Sector 3 and Northern Cape Battalion Joint Task Force, made a generous donation to learners at Kleinzee Combined and Development School on April 5.

The team, which is combating illicit mining activities in the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, provided school uniforms to the learners.

Under the leadership of Lieutenant-Colonel Monwabisi Qunta from SAPS and Lieutenant-Colonel Tuelo Kgaje from the SANDF, the team purchased school shoes for 41 learners at primary and secondary school level. In addition to this, they also donated toiletries and sanitary towels to the learners.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, praised the team members for their generous and selfless gesture.

She also acknowledged their ongoing efforts to address illegal mining and related crimes in the Namakwa District. She further commended their response to the community’s social needs and their work in fostering stronger relationships between the police and the community.
