Operation removes drugs from streets of Pampierstad

IN A BLOW to drug-related activities in Pampierstad, the multi-disciplinary team of Operation Vala Umgodi conducted a series of successful raids.

The operation on May 31 targeted houses identified as potential hot spots for illicit activities.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane confirmed the apprehension of three male suspects, aged between 30 and 52, at different locations in Pampierstad. The suspects were arrested on charges of drug possession.

The operation also led to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of R22,560. Additionally, a sum of money, suspected to be the proceeds of crime, was also confiscated.

An enquiry was also initiated after a blank pistol, ammunition and a magazine were discovered in the possession of a 50-year-old Bangladeshi citizen residing in Pampierstad.

The suspects are due to appear in court soon.

The Operation Vala Umgodi team have reaffirmed their commitment to the relentless pursuit of preventing illicit mining and related crimes in the district. This operation serves as a stern reminder of their unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order.
