THE OWNERS of a local butchery in Kimberley were burned with an iron after they were attacked during a robbery at their home in Ashburnham this morning.

Five suspects, four men and a woman, tied up the two homeowners during the attack.

The housekeeper was shot after the female suspect allegedly suspected that she, the housekeeper, might recognise her. She was shot in the chest.

The neighbourhood watch group was alerted and members rushed to assist the victims. One of the suspects was shot in the neck and head by one of the neighbourhood watch members.

The suspect and the housekeeper were rushed to hospital by Emer-G-Med and ER24. The suspect died in hospital, while the female suspect was arrested by police.

Details on any other arrests are not yet available. This is a developing story.
