The event took place in Upington and Lieutenant-General Otola was assisted by the deputy provincial commissioner for Crime Detection and acting deputy provincial commissioner for Policing, Major-General Luntu Ngubelanga, and the deputy provincial commissioner for Corporate Services, Major-General Thabo Mphuthi.
Also in attendance were the district commissioners of Frances Baard, Namakwa, and ZF Mgcawu.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers said that Lieutenant-General Otola extended her congratulations to the 162 officers promoted within the Northern Cape. Addressing the attendees, she underscored the weight of responsibility that accompanies their new ranks, urging them to meet challenges with impartiality and integrity.
Lieutenant-General Otola highlighted the significance of respect in ensuring success and garnering admiration. She stressed that maintaining a positive and fair attitude is crucial for exceptional leadership. Furthermore, she encouraged the newly appointed officers to inspire and motivate their peers and subordinates to exceed expectations and grow within their roles.
The ceremonial conferring of ranks in Upington marks the beginning of a province-wide series, with district commissioners across all five Northern Cape districts scheduled to hold similar events in the coming weeks.
