“The ANC in the Northern Cape is saddened by the passing of Sipho Mbaqa. Death has robbed the people of Kimberley, the Northern Cape Province and the broad liberation movement of a selfless, dedicated and competent servant.”
ANC provincial secretary Deshi Ngxanga is visiting the bereaved family of liberation struggle activist Sipho Mbaqa, who died on the weekend.
Mbaqa served as the provincial spokesperson of the ANC and spokesperson of the Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism as well as manager of communications at the Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
Ngxanga said the family would provide more details regarding the funeral arrangements at a later time.
“The ANC in the Northern Cape is saddened by the passing of Mbaqa. Death has robbed the people of Kimberley, the Northern Cape Province and the broad liberation movement of a selfless, dedicated and competent servant,” said Ngxanga.
He said that Mbaqa started his political career at a tender age, in the dusty streets of Galeshewe, Kimberley.
“He was a fearless and committed youth and student as a member of the Galeshewe Youth Organisation (GAYO), Galeshewe Student Congress (GASO) and the United Democratic Front prior to the unbanning of the ANC. He served the movement in different capacities and was an ardent ANC and government communicator.”
Ngxanaga conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Mbaqa’s family, friends, comrades and the broader democratic movement.
“We hope that they will find solace in the knowledge that we share in their grief. We wish them strength and fortitude during this difficult time.”
