No further extensions on licences, says Transport dept

Those who fail to renew on time will pay the penalty

CITY motorists have been reminded that motor vehicle licence discs, temporary permits and roadworthy certificates, which expired between March 26, 2020 and May 31, 2020, were only valid until Monday.

The Department of Transport confirmed on Tuesday that vehicle licence discs, temporary permits and roadworthy certificates were only valid until August 31, 2020.

All learner’s licences, driving licences, temporary driving licences and professional driving permits, which expired between March 26, 2020 and August 31, 2020, are deemed to be valid until January 31, 2021.

Motor trade number licences, which expired between March 26, 2020 and May 31, 2020, are valid until November 30, 2020.

“No further extensions will be granted and those who fail to renew on time will have to pay the applicable penalties or face the necessary repercussions for late renewal,” the department stated.
