IN A FORMAL ceremony this week, the acting district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Brigadier Peet Coetzee, led the conferral of new ranks to SAPS officers and members in Upington.
Brigadier Coetzee was joined in the proceedings on November 8 by the station commanders of Rosedale, Colonel Kgosietsile Hikwana, and Kakamas, Colonel Dries Witbooi.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said that officers in the ranks of Colonel, Lieutenant-Colonel, and Captain, as well as Warrant Officers, will be assigned to various environments, including Visible Policing (Vispol), Support, and Detectives, to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in the district.
Speaking on behalf of district management, Brigadier Coetzee congratulated the officers and emphasised that these promotions align with the South African Police Service’s vision and mission. He underlined the importance of these advancements in supporting the SAPS’s commitment to community safety and proactive law enforcement.
