DA MEMBER Michael Kaars was sworn in as a member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature (MPL) on Tuesday, April 19 by Speaker Newrene Klaaste during a virtual ceremony.

Kaars will replace former DA provincial leader Andrew Louw, who resigned as an MPL on March 4 to pursue business interests.

DA provincial leader Harold McGluwa said Kaars was a member of the party for the past 12 years.

“He has a wealth of experience in local and district government, having served as a councillor for both Tsantsabane Local Municipality and Frances Baard District Municipality. He also previously served as the first deputy chairperson of the party in the Province, as well as on the Association of Democratic Alliance Councillors (ADAC),” said McGluwa.

“The DA is confident that Kaars will contribute significantly to the DA’s legislature caucus, with his energy and eye for detail.”
