A MULTI-party delegation from the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will visit the Northern Cape next week, from Monday to Friday.
Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) spokesperson, Amogelang Moholoeng, said yesterday that the department was expected to brief the delegation on the progress of Bulk Water Supply and the Bucket Eradication Programme in the Northern Cape.
“The objective is to assess the challenges the Northern Cape is facing in the water and sanitation sector.”
The following departments are also expected to brief the NCOP: Higher Education and Training, Arts and Culture, Sport and Recreation, Social Development, Health and Human Settlements.
“The NCOP delegation will visit a number of projects including the Kimberley Hospital, Sol Plaatje University, Northern Cape Theatre, Northern Cape Urban College, Galeshewe Community Health Centre and the Segani Rainbow Early Learning Centre.”
Moholoeng said the programme was part of the NCOP’s constitutional mandate of ensuring that provincial interests were taken into the national sphere of government.
