THE 16-YEAR-old teenager who is accused of beheading a 17-year-old will reappear in the Pampierstad Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to apply for legal representation.

The accused was arrested after the head of the deceased was found hidden under a bed.

The accused underwent a medical evaluation last week.

National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the accused appeared in the Pampierstad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 21, where proceedings were held in camera.

“The accused, a minor, made his second appearance in court and the magistrate officially read out the charges to him. It is alleged that the accused decapitated the victim, disposed of the body and placed the head under a bed in a relative’s shack,” said Senokoatsane.

He added that the case was postponed until September 23 to allow the accused to officially apply for legal representation.

“He was remanded in custody at the Kimberley Correctional Services juvenile section, as per the recommendations of the social worker,” said Senokoatsane.
