A FIDELITY Security guard was arrested on Saturday in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery.

The incident took place at Palm Ridge complex, Kuruman last month.

Hawks Northern Cape provincial spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said on Sunday that the 29-year-old suspect was arrested by a multidisciplinary team comprising the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, the SAPS Tactical Response Team and the Kuruman Flying Squad and Public Order Policing units.

“The team searched a house in Tzaneen village near Kuruman and confiscated new furniture, a white Volkswagen Citi Golf vehicle, a horse saddle and bridle and an undisclosed amount of money,” said Mnisi.

She added that the suspect was expected to appear before the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

“More arrests have not been ruled out.”

Mnisi stated that, in a separate incident, three suspects, aged between 27 and 45 years old, were arrested on Saturday in connection with a business burglary and the theft of money in Delportshoop.

“The three suspects are alleged to have been involved in a burglary that took place earlier this month at Delportshoop Post Office, which suffered a loss amounting to R229,000,” said Mnisi.

She indicated that the suspects were expected to appear before the Barkly West Magistrate’s court on Monday.
