The police said the victim was fatally stabbed after he apparently refused to wash a pot
A 34-YEAR-old man is expected to appear before the Philipstown Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder on Monday, for allegedly killing his stepson.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi said on Sunday that the victim was stabbed in the chest on Friday after he apparently refused to wash a pot.
“The victim was declared dead on the scene and the suspect was arrested,” said Mooi.
She added that the acting provincial commissioner, Major-General Henriette De Waal, condemned the incident in the strongest terms.
“The SAPS in the Northern Cape urges community members to refrain from using violence as a solution. People are advised to seek amicable solutions to resolve issues such as requesting counselling from their pastors, social workers and even community leaders.
“The police investigation continues,” said Mooi.
