A 32-YEAR-old man, Joseph Botha was sentenced to four years imprisonment, which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that he is not convicted on a charge of drug trafficking during this period.

Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Tebogo Thebe said the accused was sentenced in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 6, 2022.

“The accused was found guilty on two counts of dealing in drugs after he was observed selling 8. 89 grams of methamphetamine, also known as Tik, for the amount of R2,000 while the street value amounts to R9,500.On count two, the accused sold 3.9 grams of methcathinone and 0.35 grams of methaqualone for an amount of R2,000, while the street value is estimated at R5,025. These incidents occurred in 2017,” said Thebe.

Thebe added that the sentence agreement was reached after the State and the accused entered a plea bargain.
