A 34 year old man was arrested on the N14 outside Kakamas after drugs were found in his vehicle.
SAPS Kakamas spokesperson Captain Prins said Warrant Officer Johny Basson and Sergeant Chabalala from the Kakamas police station searched a vehicle that was standing along the side of the road on August 4 at about 7.50pm.
“The driver seemed very nervous when members approached the vehicle. He ran away when they instructed him to get out of the vehicle. The members gave chase and caught him in possession of a white plastic bag containing 439.17 grams of tik with an estimated street value of R78 700.”
Prins added that the suspect was arrested and the police seized the tik and confiscated the vehicle.
“The suspect will appear in the Kakamas Magistrates Court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.”
The acting district commander of the ZF Mgcawu district, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar commended the members for their vigilance and efforts in eradicating drugs from the street.
