THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Health has rolled out its vaccine drive to senior citizens in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.

The department said vaccinations are taking place at old age homes in the district and at Kuruman Hospital.

“More vaccination site centres are expected to be launched soon to ensure that many other senior citizens are vaccinated during the second phase of the vaccination programme,” the department said.

“Vaccinations were administered at Mimosahof Old Age Home in Kuruman, where 83 senior citizens were vaccinated.”

Meanwhile, Mediclinic in Kimberley said that vaccination preparations at its facility are also progressing well.

“We are currently focussing on the vaccination of health care workers who have not yet received their vaccination. There are some of our patients who have received their SMSes, which stipulate the time and date of their vaccination appointments. We are expecting to start that process next week,” said Mediclinic in Kimberley spokesperson Denise Coetzee.
