NC forensic worker killed in crash near Britstown

A Northern Cape Department of Health forensic unit employee was killed, while another is in ICU, when a military truck and a forensics bakkie collided approximately 7km outside Britstown on Wednesday.

THE POLICE are investigating a culpable homicide case after a Northern Cape Department of Health forensic unit employee was killed, while another is in ICU, when a military truck and a forensics bakkie collided approximately 7km outside of Britstown on Wednesday morning.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the accident happened at about 6.30am.

“The male co-driver of the forensics bakkie died on the scene while the driver was transported to hospital for medical treatment. The passenger in the military truck was also injured, however, the driver escaped unscathed,” said Kock.

Northern Cape Department of Health spokesperson Lulu Mxekezo said that emergency medical services responded to the scene of the accident to assist those involved.

“More details will be provided at a later stage, but we are supporting the families of our colleagues. We wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” said Mxekezo.
