A 45-year-old Northern Cape father was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Victoria West Magistrate’s Court for raping his eight-year-old daughter.
A 45-YEAR-old Northern Cape father was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Victoria West Magistrate’s Court on December 7 for raping his eight-year-old daughter.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the incident took place in Victoria West on July 6, 2019, where the girl reported that she had been sexually assaulted by her father.
“The police were immediately contacted and the accused was arrested on the same day and bail was denied,” said Kock.
The provincial head of the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit, Brigadier Sipho Kheswa, commended the investigating officer in the matter, Sergeant Ilze Fan from the De Aar FCS unit, for her “meticulous investigation that resulted in the conviction”.
