Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the couple were arrested by the Hartswater police and the Kimberley police, along with the K9 unit and the SAPS Crime Intelligence unit, after following up on information regarding alleged drug sales in Jan Kempdorp.
The police pounced on the couple at their house in Masakeng in Jan Kempdorp. They searched the premises and confiscated 270 sachets containing high-grade dagga and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R8,100.
The team also seized cash believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.
Kock said that the female suspect is a local resident while her boyfriend is a foreign national.
“The suspects will appear in court soon on charges of dealing in drugs. The police will continue their efforts to eradicate drugs from the streets,” said Kock.
