The market will continue until Sunday and this year there will also be a restaurant on the premises – the Koeistal Kefi.

THE KELRN MTB Classic and Trail Run will be hosted for the seventh time this weekend at Holsdam Farm just outside Barkly West.

The event is being hosted on Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with New Vaal Motors Kimberley as the main sponsor.

The owners of Kelrn Transport, Kenne and Joy de Kock, realised that an MTB and trail run provided the perfect opportunity to raise funds for child care, which is very close to their hearts. Each year the employees of Kelrn Transport team up to host this event and last year more than R500 000 was raised for child care.

Joy de Kock will also once again host the Koeistal Market for the ninth time this year and gifts, decor, confectionery and home baked foods have already been on sale since Tuesday when the market opened.

The market will continue until Sunday and this year there will also be a restaurant on the premises – the Koeistal Kefi.

Saturday’s event sees a 12km, 30km and 60km MTB as well as a 5km fun run, 8.5km fun walk and an 18km trail run.

There will also be entertainment for the children which is presented free of charge by Reach for a Dream. A kiddies’ obstacle course has been built especially for the little ones to enjoy with their bicycles.

Jan Braai is one of the participants in the MTB and will also stay for a campfire potjiekos competition on Saturday evening, while Kruger Band will provide the evening’s music.

All the tickets to the Saturday evening potjiekos are sold out. On Sunday, October 27, there will be a 35km MTB and a gospel message.

Entries will be open online until midnight today. Participants will also be able to register on race day, but only online entries for the MTBs will qualify for time-keeping, gift packs and prize money. Trail Runners can enter at any time.

Prize money exceeding R50 000 is up for grabs, sponsored by MH Office, Iclix and Vodacom Kimberley, as well as a Specialized Chisel to the value of R20 000 sponsored by Alpha Beta Cycles.
