THE MOTHIBISTAD SAPS B-Relief team apprehended a 24-year-old foreign national male for possession of a suspected stolen water pump.
The arrest on Saturday, at approximately 1.40pm, followed a tip-off that led the police to the suspect, who had allegedly purchased the pump from another individual.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said that during the arrest, a 24-year-old neighbour interfered with police operations, resulting in his arrest for obstructing law enforcement officers. Members of the Public Order Policing unit were called in to assist, and the neighbour was subsequently charged with obstruction.
Both suspects face charges of possession of suspected stolen goods and are expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court soon.
Captain Vuyo Makolai, the Mothibistad SAPS Visible Policing commander, spearheaded the operation that led to the arrests.
The police officers were praised for their swift action in addressing property-related crimes.
