Mother sought after newborn baby abandoned

The Galeshewe SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences unit has requested assistance in locating the family and mother of a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned behind a house in Jerusalem, Lerato Park, shortly before Christmas.

THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences unit has requested assistance in locating the family and mother of a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned behind a house in Jerusalem, Lerato Park, shortly before Christmas.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Merapelo Pilane said the baby was discovered on December 23, 2024.

“The occupants of a house in Jerusalem heard a baby crying and upon investigation discovered the baby behind the house. The police were informed and the child is currently under the care of the Department of Social Development,” said Pilane.
