The Northern Cape Department of Health has committed to appointing additional staff at the Groblershoop Community Health Centre, with the ultimate goal of transforming it into a 24-hour facility.
THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Health has committed to appointing additional staff at the Groblershoop Community Health Centre (CHC), with the ultimate goal of transforming it into a 24-hour facility.
A spokesperson for the MEC for Health, Lebogang Majaha, stated that the department had presented an in-depth plan of action to promote the optimal utilisation and allocation of available resources.
“The meeting was convened by the MEC for the Department of Health, Maruping Lekwene, alongside the leadership of !Kheis Local Municipality, ward councillors and senior departmental officials last week to focus on improving medical services,” said Majaha.
He added that the department had committed to appointing additional staff at local health-care facilities, as well as emergency medical services.
“Extra ambulances will be used for a quick response time,” he said.
“The integrated plan of action includes the development of a plan to assist the department to realise the 24-hour operationalisation of the Groblershoop Community Health Centre. The municipality has agreed to assist in resolving some of the bottlenecks.” Majaha added.
