The Galeshewe police are investigating following the discovery of a woman’s body in an open piece of veld in Promised Land, Phuthanang.

THE GALESHEWE police have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of a missing woman’s body in an open piece of veld near Promised Land, Phuthanang.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the body of a woman aged between 30 and 40 years old was discovered in a shallow grave by a shepherd on September 29.

Sam added that the woman, who is from Platfontein, was reported missing from her home on October 20.

“The body was discovered by a shepherd, who stumbled on what seemed to be a human body concealed in a shallow grave and immediately informed the police. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to this discovery,” said Sam.

The police have requested anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation of the case and the tracing of the perpetrator/s to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Stephen Wax, on 082 469 1728 or 08600 10111.
