Police members who had served for periods of 10, 20 and 40 years were presented with loyal service medals during the event

LONG-serving members of the SAPS in the Northern Cape were recognised during a provincial medal parade held at 3 SAI military base in Kimberley yesterday.   The event was attended by the Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Risimati Shivuri, together with the Premier of Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, and the Northern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Nontobeko Vilakazi.   Police members who had served for periods of 10, 20 and 40 years were presented with loyal service medals during the event.   During his keynote address, Saul called on police officials to continue utilising all resources at their disposal to fight crime and ensure safe environments, regardless of the volatile economic conditions in the country resulting in strict budget constraints.   He further encouraged members to self-cultivate and upgrade their academic records.
