TO HELP ensure the safety of pupils, Konkoonsies Solar Power has donated more than 500 masks to pupils across three schools in the small towns of Pella and Pofadder.

In a co-ordinated effort with the Namaqua District Education Office, based in Springbok, the solar plant has additionally provided an extensive range of sanitisers for the schools.

“We see it as critical that pupils from our communities are as safe as possible, especially as Covid-19 infections are increasing in the Northern Cape,” explained Tsholofelo Moote, economic development practitioner at Konkoonsies Solar Power.

The schools include Pella Primary and Boesmanland High, in Pella; as well as Francois Visser Primary, in Pofadder.

The solar plant recently also funded personal protective equipment for distribution at Pofadder Community Health Centre, Pofadder Clinic, Onseepkans Clinic and Pella Clinic, which see an average of 85 patients per day.
