The Postmasburg police have requested the public’s assistance after the body of a man was found on a train wagon on Friday, May 6.

THE POSTMASBURG police have requested the public’s assistance after the body of a man was found on a train wagon on Friday, May 6.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Nomvuyo Makoloi said the police were contacted at around 4.30pm from the Transnet depot about a man’s body that was found in one of the train wagons.

Makoloi said that upon arrival at the Postmasburg Transnet Depot, police members found the body of an unknown man, aged between 40 and 50.

The deceased was wearing a white cotton mask, a white ellesse T-shirt, light blue jeans with a blue belt, red All Star sneakers and colourful socks.

“According to the driver of the train, the train arrived in Postmasburg at 3.20pm on May 6 from Newcastle, having stopped at various train stations before arriving in Postmasburg. The train travelled via Spruytsrus, Meyerton and Warrenton before arriving in Postmasburg,” said Makoloi.

Anyone with information that can assist in identifying the deceased and/or shed light on the incident is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Diane Diphoko, on 076 861 2253 or via the MySAPS app.
