Man sought for R40 million gold and silver bars theft

The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigating team in the Northern Cape are searching for Mayeso Ginora Lufeyo as they believe that he can assist them in an investigation into the alleged theft of gold and silver bars worth R40 million from a farm in Vosburg.

THE Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigating team in the Northern Cape are searching for Mayeso Ginora Lufeyo as they believe he can assist them in an investigation into the alleged theft of gold and silver bars worth R40 million from a farm in Vosburg.

Hawks spokesperson warrant officer Nomthandazo Mnisi said the gold and silver bars were allegedly stolen during an armed robbery at Witsloot farm in Vosburg during November 2022.

“It is alleged that the complainant and his wife were accosted by four suspects wearing balaclavas at their rented farm house. The suspects were armed with firearms, including shotguns and they robbed them of gold bars and silver bars worth R40 million as well as a .22 rifle. The police were notified and an armed robbery case was opened which was later transferred to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.”

She cautioned unsuspecting buyers from purchasing the stolen gold and silver bars.
