A 36-YEAR-old man was killed and a woman’s arm was severed during an accident that happened on the N12 close to the Kamfers Dam on Saturday morning.

Three people were rushed to hospital by Emer-G-Med after suffering serious injuries.

An Opel Corsa and a KIA were involved in a collision with both vehicles leaving the road, rolling several times.

Both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Kimberley when the accident occurred.

The driver of the KIA apparently attempted to turn into Kamfers Dam when the Corsa tried to overtake, resulting in the accident.

A man travelling in the Corsa was ejected from the vehicle and his body was found on the other side of the fence next to the road.

A female driver of the KIA was evacuated from the scene, while a police dog was called in to search for her severed arm.

The arm was later found under the Corsa when it was turned over.

Traffic was disrupted for more than an hour as drivers were rerouted to use the Barkly West road.

According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Dimakatso Mooi, four people were transported to hospital.
