THE NORTHERN Cape High Court sentenced Flippie Wapad to 15 years’ imprisonment for killing a woman in Galeshewe following an argument over a cigarette.

The incident took place on February 4, 2021 in Snake Park, Galeshewe.

Wapad, 43, followed the victim to her friend’s home in Snake Park, where he asked her for a cigarette.

She informed him that she did not have a cigarette and an altercation broke out between the two and Wapad stabbed her in the chest.

The woman’s 12-year-old daughter witnessed the incident.

Kagisho station commander Colonel Michelle Ford welcomed the 15-year sentence handed down to Wapad and also applauded the investigating officer, Sergeant Donna Palm, for her “meticulous investigation that ensured that perpetrators of gender-based violence are speedily brought to book”.
