THE POLICE confiscated ammunition and arrested a 53-year-old man after they searched his bakkie in Philipstown.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said on Monday that the Philipstown SAPS members were busy with routine patrols when they stopped and searched a white bakkie on Sunday.
“The police confiscated 806 MK1 and MK6 cartridges from the vehicle. The suspect could not account for the cartridges and was apprehended and detained for being in the illegal possession of ammunition,” said Kock.
He added that the SANDF was informed about the incident and confirmed that further investigations would follow.
“The 53-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court soon. The investigation continues.”
