A group of friends were boating on Saturday afternoon when they noticed the body in the water
A 32-YEAR-old male suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in the river at the low level bridge near Langleg.
The police yesterday identified the woman as Angelique Harmse, 29, from Kimberley.
Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said that the investigation was continuing.
A group of friends were boating on Saturday afternoon when they noticed the body in the water.
“My friend and I had gone for a drive in the boat, when I happened to look left and saw something floating in the water. We decided to take a closer look and realised that it was a person.
“It is believed that she had been in the river for quite a while as her body was in a state of decomposition and some of her flesh had been eaten away.”
Kock said that the woman was found naked, only wearing a pink brassiere.
“She had a scorpion tattoo on her right arm close to her shoulder and also had another tattoo with the letters Tollo on her right wrist,” Kock said.
