TWO LOCAL production groups were the toast of the Northern Cape Province after bringing home a gold and a bronze award during the 2022 National Arts Festival in Makhada, Grahamstown.

Thapelo Tshite Arts Development won gold for Emsini and Amanda Danca Teatro won bronze for their production called Nomapondo.

The groups were congratulated by the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Desery Finies, upon their arrival from Grahamstown.

It is the first time that Emsini went to the National Arts Festival after it was produced in November 2021.

For Amanda Danca Teatro it is the third time that they have brought home an award.

They won silver with Emathogeni in 2018, and A Cut Above Award for Unthombo in 2019.

The Northern Cape had six productions participating at the National Arts Festival in 2022.
