KIMBERLEY resident Dianthona Frieda Mamapula celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday.
She was born in Delportshoop on February 24, 1924, after her parents, Andries Choleditswe Riet and Marie Moitesmang Riet, moved to the area.
Family spokesperson Benny Bogoto said Mamapula attended school in Modderrivier until Grade 6.
“She worked at the Kimberley Hospital Complex as a cleaner, where she met her life partner John Kaelo Mamapula,” said Bogoto.
“She has nine children, 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.”
He added that other than having difficulty hearing, Mamapula enjoyed good health.
“Dianthona is a staunch Christian and member of the Methodist Church. She strongly believes in the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
“A beautiful person in and out, she is a true embodiment of what humanity is and a cornerstone of strong family values.”
