AFTER restricting electricity supply to Magareng Local Municipality in the Northern Cape since 6am on Wednesday morning, Eskom has received the required upfront payment from the municipality, allowing for the power to be restored.

Eskom spokesperson Stephanie Jansen van Rensburg confirmed that electricity supply to Warrenton and Warrenvale was restored after three hours.

“Supply restrictions were implemented as a last resort after the municipality failed to adhere to its payment obligations with Eskom as described in the electricity supply agreement,” she stated.

“Eskom and Magareng have agreed on an interim payment agreement to address the municipality’s outstanding debt. This agreement will be revised at the end of 2020.”
