NORTHERN Cape parents and guardians have until midnight on Thursday, June 22 to register their children on the Online Learner Admission System for the 2024 academic year.

The online application is open for entry grades and has been open for applications since May 22.

The MEC for Education, Zolile Monakali, during his 2023/24 Budget Vote this week, announced that over 43,000 applications have been received thus far.

“The online admission system allows for applications for Grade R, Grade 1 and Grade 8. For all other grades, parents can apply directly at the school of their choice. We have received 43,031 applications across all districts. We have also identified 83 walk-in centres that are currently assisting parents to complete their online applications,” said Monakali.

“We appeal to parents to apply on time in order to secure a school space for their child for the 2024 academic year,” the MEC stressed.

Monakali added that the Province has “mastered” the online admission system and is setting the benchmark for other provinces that seek to implement the same system.
