THE POLICE in Kuruman arrested a 34-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man on charges relating to shoplifting from a well-known chain store in Kuruman

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the identified suspects were found wandering around in the parking area of the chain store on July 7 and the police searched the vehicle they were travelling in.

“The occupants could not provide proof of purchase for the goods and the police immediately arrested the suspects and seized the stolen goods as well as the vehicle utilised in the commission of an alleged crime, all valued at approximately R184,000,” said Sam.

He added that both suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen property, while the woman was also charged with shoplifting.

“Both suspects will appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Sam.

“The SAPS will leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the perpetrators of crime and considers shoplifting a serious offence as it affects the economy of the country,” he added.
