THE DEPARTMENT of Employment and Labour has confirmed that its Kimberley and Upington offices will resume operations on Monday, July 27 following a temporary closure on July 20 due to positive covid-19 cases detected at both offices.

“We can confirm that our two labour centres (Kimberley and Upington) will resume with operations on Monday, July 27, 2020, however we urge our clients to exercise patience as our capacity at these offices is severely affected. Therefore only clients who cannot access our services through alternative platforms should visit our offices for services,” Zolile Albanie, chief director: provincial operations, said on Friday.

“Clients who need to sign for continuation of their UIF benefits are urged to call 053 838 1680/59 for confirmation of their unemployment status, banking details and release of their payments.

“Other services of the Department of Employment and Labour can be accessed on the on-line platforms at www.labour.gov.za and this will assist in reducing congestions at our offices and help to curb the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus,” Albanie said.

All enquiries relating to the Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) applications must be done through the national call centre on 0800 030 007.
