MEMBERS of the Kimberley Public Order Policing (POP) unit arrested a man after he was found in possession of 50 kilograms of suspected stolen copper cable.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the POPs members spotted the suspect carrying a white bag near Queens Park in Aristotle Avenue in Kimberley on Wednesday, January 19.

“The police searched the bag and found the copper cables worth about R5,000 and arrested the suspect for possession of suspected stolen goods,” said Kock.

“The suspect will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon. The investigation continues.”
