THE KIMBERLEY police arrested a 23-year-old suspect for housebreaking and theft after community members had cornered him.

The Kimberley Flying Squad had responded to information received from Crime Intelligence about housebreaking and theft after several houses were broken into in the Rhodesdene area.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi said that upon arrival at the scene on Thursday, August 14, police members found a suspect, who had been cornered by community members, in possession of suspected stolen property.

“The items recovered – laptops, speakers, jewellery and headsets – were confiscated and the suspect was arrested,” said Mooi.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of housebreaking and theft.
