A CASE of culpable homicide is currently being investigated by the police following the death of a former Kimberley man, 32-year-old Shaun Begley, in a car crash on Sunday evening.

This is according to SAPS spokesperson in the Free State, Warrant Officer Loraine Earle, who yesterday confirmed the fatal car accident that occurred outside Bloemfontein on Sunday.

“I can confirm that an accident took place at about 7.30pm on Sunday just outside Bloemfontein on the N1,” said Earle yesterday afternoon. “Shaun Begley, 32, was the passenger in the vehicle when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times. Both the driver, a 29-year-old woman, and Begley died on the scene of the accident. Only one vehicle was involved.

“The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.”

Begley matriculated at Kimberley Boys’ High and had been working at a steakhouse in Bloemfontein at the time of his death.
