A 35-YEAR-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R3,000 in Kathu on Saturday.

Sergeant Ben Eiman and constables Blythe Jantjies and Beatrice Canchibatho were busy conducting crime-prevention patrols in phase 4 in Smartie Town at around 3pm when they noticed a suspicious-looking man leaving a house where drugs were allegedly being sold.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said the SAPS members apprehended the suspect and proceeded to search the house.

“Inside the house, Sergeant Eiman found 50 small zip-lock bags filled with dagga, as well as a clear plastic bag full of dagga. The estimated street value of the dagga is R3,000,” said Gamieldien.

She added that the 35-year-old suspect would appear in the Kathu Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.
