THE NORTHERN Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, led a medal parade on November 12 in Kathu, honouring police officers from the John Taolo Gaetsewe District for their loyal and dedicated service.
Accompanied by the deputy provincial commissioner for Crime Detection, Major-General Luntu Ngubelanga, and the acting deputy provincial commissioner for Policing, Major-General Thabo Mphuthi, Lieutenant-General Otola presented medals to 88 officers in recognition of their service spanning 10, 20, and 30 years.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers highlighted the dedication of the recipients, who were acknowledged for their long-standing commitment to serving their communities.
In her address, Lieutenant-General Otola expressed gratitude for the officers’ hard work and sacrifice, emphasising the importance of a professional police service in keeping communities safe. She also extended thanks to the families of the awardees, recognising their support in helping officers fulfil their duties.
The medal parade in Kathu marks one of several district ceremonies planned across the Province to celebrate the dedication of Northern Cape police members.
