Murder accused Clive Ferris will reappear in the Kimberley magistrate’s court on January 8, to arrange for a possible date for a formal bail application.

Members of the public chanted “jail no bail” during a picket that was held outside the Kimberley magistrate’s court on Monday.

The accused is facing charges including murder and attempted murder following a shooting incident in Minerva Gardens on December 21.

Herholdt Robertson was appointed as his legal representative on Monday.

It was indicated that there were problems with the conditions where the accused is being held in custody at a correctional services facility, although it has since been resolved.

Magistrate du Toit explained that a magistrate could only be allocated after an attorney had been placed on the record.

She stated that an “outside” magistrate would preside over the matter.
