Hungry Lions get boost following performance in ABC Motsepe League

PROVINCIAL government, in partnership with business, donated R500 000 to the Hungry Lions Football Club following their performance in the ABC Motsepe Foundation League this week.

The team qualified to play in the finals today (Saturday July 3) after they beat Mangaung United in the semi-finals and have been promoted to the GladAfrica Championship.

The Premier Dr Zamani Saul on behalf of the provincial government, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the team and its management as they will be competing in the first division in the next season.

“Government sees this as a great achievement for the Province as it will also spur on young people in sports to work hard and achieve their aspirations.”

He added that as part of provincial government’s commitment and continued support for the team to make its breakthrough from the First Division into the DSTV Premier League they partnered with Wildeklawer, Emmanuel Diamonds and Barzani Groups to immediately donate R500 000 to the team.

“Provincial government will continue to support the team in this difficult league division. We wish to thank the sponsors for their generous donations in seeing the team succeed.”
