THE DEFENCE for murder accused John-Ross Crossbery Henderson has questioned undue delays in the case, where the charge sheet is still outstanding.

Henderson, who was charged with the murder of Jayson Afrique and the attempted murder of his wife, Micayla, made a brief appearance in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on January 13.

Jayson was fatally injured after several shots were fired as the couple approached their driveway in New Park on July 31.

The legal representative for Henderson, Herholdt Robertson, stated that they were entitled to receive a copy of the docket.

“The incident took place more than six months ago and we are still waiting for the charge sheet. I cannot understand the hesitancy,” said Robertson.

State prosecutor Birch stated that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) still had to consult and give instructions.

Magistrate Memory Qomoyi postponed the matter until February 24.

Henderson will remain in custody.
