Hawks arrest wanted drug suspect

The suspect who was found in possession of drugs and other valuables with an estimated value of more than R400 000 is also wanted by the Hillbrow police.

A 46-year-old man was arrested during a joint operation by the Northern Cape Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Border police, the Upington K9, Highway patrol and Crime Prevention when drugs and other valuables with an estimated value of more than R400 000 was found in his possession.

Hawks provincial spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi said the suspect was arrested in Kuruman on Friday, October 22, 2021.

“The man was arrested after information was received about alleged drug dealing activities in Mimosa Avenue in Kuruman.

“The suspect was also sought by the Hillbrow police for possession of drugs.

“The team conducted a search and seizure disruptive operation at the address of the suspect.

“During the search, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine (tik), mandrax tablets, a scale, necklaces, watches and a key was found. The value exceeds R400 000. An undisclosed amount of cash was also confiscated,” said Mnisi.

She said the suspect is expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court.
