Hartswater kidnapping and murder trial to be heard in the Northern Cape High Court

The trial involving the kidnapping and triple murder of the Brand family from Hartswater has been transferred to the Northern Cape High Court.

THE trial involving the kidnapping and triple murder of the Brand family from Hartswater has been transferred to the Northern Cape High Court.

National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane on Friday said the five accused Donald Seolesang, 21, Tshepo Visagie, 37, Realeboga Manyedi, 20, Kgomotso Mpumlwane, 44 and Tshepaone Malato, 20, would remain in custody until their court appearance in the Northern Cape High Court on September 5 2022.

“The accused – four men and a woman are facing various serious charges which include three counts of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, as well as kidnapping. They are suspected of killing the elderly couple Danie Brand, 83, his wife Breggie, 73 and their 54-year-old daughter Elizabeth. Their bodies were found days later by a multi-disciplined police search team that was assembled to locate their whereabouts.”

He added that Mpumlwane’s bail application was denied in the Hartswater district court, while the other four accused abandoned their right to apply for bail.
